Hyatt Regency Kathmandu Associates Volunteer with Habitat to Rebuild Home in an Earthquake Affected Area

A A- A+

To celebrate Hyatt’s EIGHTH Global Month of Community Service, associates from Hyatt Regency Kathmandu volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Nepal to help re-build a house of an earthquake-affected family in Panchkhal, Kavre on 23 April 2018.

The Hyatt Global Month of Community Service program encourages hotels around the world to give something back to the communities they call home. The program builds on Hyatt’s belief that no one better understands a community’s most pressing issues – and their solutions – than those who live and work in it.

A total of 30 associates from different departments participated in the construction activity in an effort to strengthen their commitment and bond with the local communities. The team of associates travelled 47 kilometers to volunteer in building a house for 56-year-old Lata Man Tamang, living in Lamidada, Ward No. 3, Panchkal municipality. His house was completely destroyed during the earthquakes in 2015.

In December 2015, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu donated 250 sleeping bags to Habitat for Humanity through the SARAF Foundation. The sleeping bags were distributed to 250 households in Rampur, an earthquake-affected village in Panchakal municipality in order to prepare the community for the cold months immediately after the devastating earthquake.
