Hyundai open Golf Tournament 2022: Pun wins trophy

KATHMANDU: Krishna Pun won the Hyundai Open Golf Tournament 2022 held at Gokarna Golf  Club. Playing with 11 handicaps, he carded 43 stableford points to win the corporate tournament on the countback after being tied with Babu Poudel. Pun scored 21 points on the back nine whereas Poudel got 20. Babu finished runner-up in the tournament. Defending champion, Nepal Police Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashok Singh became the third-finisher after he scored 42 points. Likewise, Tashi Dong, Tashi Tshiring and Wangchen Dhondup were tied for the best gross with 36 points. Tashi Dong won on the countback as he scored 19 on the back nine whereas Tshiring and Dhondup got 17 points. Major General Narendra Rawal was the winner among senior golfers aged 60 years and above with 39 points, his closest rival Bhairaja Panday scored 38 points. Prativa Rai was the winner among ladies with 38 points, Kashmira Shah became second finisher with 37 points. Shyam Simkhada scored 37 points to win the category of Hyundai car winner’s category. Wangchen Dhondup got closest to the pin, Dawa J Sherpa got the longest drive award and Captain Norbu Sherpa won the most birdies after making five birdies. All prize winner's got Samsung galaxy smartwatch while the main winner bagged additionally Bushnell V5 range finder. A total of 155 golfers participated in the tournament sponsored by Laxmi Intercontinental, the sole authorised distributor of Hyundai Cars in Nepal. The tournament was played under stableford format with a 3/4 handicap. South Korean Ambassador Park Chong Suk, Chairman of Laxmi Group Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and captain Joseph Nathan gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
