ICCR President Sahasrabuddhe interacts with young professionals in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, India, and President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), interacted with Nepali young professionals during his first visit to Nepal. The youths from diverse backgrounds participated in the interaction organised to showcase the innovation, creation and development young people are involved in Nepal, said Asish Thakur, Chairman and Executive Director of Glocal, the organiser of this particular meetup. They visited India at the invitation of ICCR to gain understanding of India’s democracy and development. Photo: Indian Embassy/Facebook[/caption] During the three-day Nepal visit, ICCR President Dr Sahasrabuddhe paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba separately on Wednesday. He also met with Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel and discussed about promoting cultural ties and strengthening educational exchanges between Nepal and India. The ICCR President also interacted with more than 200 members of 'Sampark India-Nepal Alumni Network' that connects Nepalis who have studied in India including many under ICCR scholarships. In his remarks to the alumni, he emphasized the significant role played by them in strengthening Nepal-India relations. Prior to the event, Dr Sahasrabuddhe attended the curtain raiser of International Day of Yoga 2022 on June 15 on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple, the UNESCO heritage site. The Indian lawmaker also met with prominent educationists and academicians including Vice-Chancellors of Kathmandu University, Lumbini Buddhist University and Director, Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS) to discuss specific initiatives and the role ICCR can play in this regard. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said in a statement that Dr Sahasrabudhhe was on a visit to Nepal from June 14 to 16. READ ALSO:
