IME General Insurance holds 25th AGM

KATHMANDU: IME General Insurance Ltd has recently held its 25th annual general meeting (AGM), in Kathmandu. At the AGM held in Kathmandu on January 23, IGI Chairman Hem Raj Dhakal welcomed all the shareholders present at the AGM and informed them about the current situation of the non-life insurance market and the company's strategy for the future. He also apprised the meeting of the economic and political situation of the country and its impact on the insurance sector. On the occasion, IGI Chairman Dhakal reminded about the company's commitment to constructing a building made in the 24th AGM and said the company would generate an annual income of Rs 40 to Rs 50 million from the under-construction 11-storey building with a 2-storey parking area of about 60,000 sq ft after completing it. The company will provide services in all seven provinces and will facilitate the purchase of insurance through online mediums and provide family health insurance services through IGI Health Plus insurance, Dhakal said and informed about the company's provision of services, diversity in services and the use of technology in branchless insurance to provide convenient services. In spite of the current economic and political situation in the country, the company has achieved an increase in insurance premium collection by 16.47% compared to last year, IGI Chairman Dhakal informed, and thanked all the shareholders for submitting general and special proposals to the 25th AGM. Likewise, IGI CEO Yugesh Bhakta Bade Shrestha urged its customers, investors, regulatory bodies and team of colleagues to continue with the support and informed that the company was moving forward according to the sentiments of the investors and the directives of the board of directors. "We have been providing insurance services to customers from all provinces and making every effort to expand and develop its reach," said Shrestha. In the review period, the company earned insurance fees of more than Rs 1.77 billion which is 16.47% increase compared to last year. Shrestha said the company earned Rs 902.5 million by mid-January in the current fiscal year. CEO Shrestha also informed that the company has extended its insurance service through its branches in all provinces by promoting micro insurance, agriculture and animal insurance including family health insurance as per the instructions from the Nepal Insurance Authority — the regulatory body. The company which has paid special attention to digital will provide smooth service from all branches and head office by institutionalising the achievements of the company, making effective the company's policies, rules and regulations, internal audits, and internal control system through maximum mobilisation of the company's means and resources.
