
KATHMANDU: India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Bimala Rai Paudyal at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on Monday.
In the meeting, they discussed various topics related to bilateral cooperation. Minister Paudyal said they discussed topics such as enhancing the development cooperation by further strengthening the bilateral ties. She informed that they also talked about the new international air route for two airports — Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara Regional International Airport.
Mainly topics like increasing development assistance in Nepal, creating investment-friendly environment, resolving problems seen in connectivity and bilateral trade and promoting power trade, among others, were also figured during the meeting.
In the meeting, Minister Paudyal also proposed forming a mechanism for a single voice of the South Asian nations in the international forums regarding climate change issues.
The Indian Foreign Secretary is on a two-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal. He arrived in Kathmandu this morning.
Foreign Secretary Kwatra participated in the Secretary-level meeting immediately after arriving in Nepal.
In the meeting, the foreign secretaries of the two countries discussed various aspects of the multi-dimensional collaboration between Nepal and India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
On the occasion, they discussed various topics of bilateral cooperation, including connectivity, power trade, agriculture, health, and culture, among others.
This is Kwatra's first visit to Nepal after assuming the responsibility of the Foreign Secretary of India.
India's Ministry of External Affairs said that this visit is taking place in line with the priority attached by India to its relations with Nepal under the 'Neighbourhood First' policy and in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.
