‘Indulgence in digital screen hampers child’s development’

RUPANDEHI: Medical doctors and people's representatives have urged the guardians not to allow children to indulge in digital screens. They said children's psychosocial and physical development are hampered by excessive exposure to digital screens. Launching a campaign, 'Discourage Children to use smartphone and TV' here Saturday, the doctors associated with the Rotary E-Club of Medicofusion Hybrid Nepal, viewed the children had experienced negative impacts of smartphone and TV screening. Dr Santosh Pokhrel said Club would launch a digital awareness campaign with the collaboration of various municipalities in Rupandehi district. Dr Pokhrel informed that the children with a splurge on digital screens may face problems, such as sleeplessness, anorexia, autism, quick temperament, quarrelsome nature, weakness in study, eye illness and detachment from family members/relatives. Similarly, Mayor at Tilottama Municipality, Ramkrishna Khand, viewed the campaign as very positive and made a commitment that the municipality would provide support to it. The municipality will be made child rights-friendly, he added. Likewise, Mayor of Devdaha Municipality, Dhruba Prasad Kharel, said the parents should be more aware to discourse children's growing indulgence in digital screens. So, let's begin from ourselves, he stressed. Moreover, Deputy Mayor at Siddharthanagar Municipality, Uma Adhikari, appreciated the campaign initiated by the Club.
