Interaction on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Tajikistan

Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) and Karobar National Economic Daily jointly hosted an interaction on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Tajikistan in Kathmandu. Managing Director of the TBI Group, Shisheer Bhatta highlighted the importance and the potential areas of trade and investment in Tajikistan. Bhatta stressed on the need for cooperation between the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan. “This institutional mechanism will work as a bridge between the industries, traders etc. in the two countries”, he said. Mirzosharif Jololov, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Nepal, delivered the keynote speech. Ganesh Shah, former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, said that both countries have huge hydropower potential and should exchange their experiences at the highest levels possible. He further added that optimum electricity generation can boost industrialisation of Nepal and experiences of Tajikistan can be lessons for Nepal. He suggested on promoting Track II diplomacy between Nepal and Tajikistan. Similarly, Sunil KC, CEO of AIDIA invited the business community of Nepal to explore various dimensions of business opportunities in Tajikistan and assured to facilitate the same at institutional capacity.
