KMC independent candidate Saha continues to lead with 2,139 votes

KATHMANDU: Independent mayoral candidate in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Saha, aka Balen Shah, continued to lead vote count with a margin of 940 votes. He has so far secured 2,139 votes while his closest rival CPN (UML)'s Keshab Stapit got 1,199 votes, according to the latest vote count update made public at 1:00 pm. Sirjana Singh, another mayoral candidate from Nepali Congress (NC), mustered 1,057 votes and independent candidate Suman Sayami secured 244 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party's candidate Madan Das Shrestha secured 233, according to the Office of the Returning Officer. Similarly, the KMC's deputy mayoral candidate, Sunita Dangol from the UML, has led the vote count with 2,232 votes. Her closest contender Rameshwor Shrestha from the CPN (Unified Socialist) secured 647 votes while Binita Magaiya has mustered 540 votes. Vote count of KMC wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 32 is underway, informed district returning officer Prem Prasad Paudel. Of the total 300,242 eligible voters in KMC, the voter turnout was 190,170.
