Krishna Prasad Dulal

Krishna Prasad Dulal is the Vice-President of NADA and Executive Member of FNCCI. He opened his car machinery shop over two decades ago and has learnt business simply by doing. He later established a lubricant company known as Purwanchal Lube Oil.

Dulal came from an economically deprived background and had to work hard to pay for his education and establish a career, but he never allowed circumstances to get the better of him. Today, he is a successful entrepreneur and wants to create an enabling environment for young people to become agents of change in the country. He was also associated with Nepal Jaycess as its President.

In this issue of B360, he shares the five things that have impacted his work and life.

Mother

My father expired when I was very young. Therefore, my mother had to take on the role of sole breadwinner of the family. She paid for my school fees until grade 10. After that I started working to take the load off my mother. She worked very hard to help me with my education. If it was not for her support, I would not have been able to start my career at all.

Education

Being able to educate myself with my own hardearned money is one of the proudest achievements of my life. Given the financial condition of my family, I could not expect them to invest in my higher studies. I used this as a motivation to study harder, rather than allowing circumstances to crush me. I did various odd jobs like filling forms for people in offices and giving tuitions to younger students. I believe that the people who helped me get these jobs are the reason I could take a step further to get the education I needed to improve my future.

First job

The first job I had was in a machinery shop. The knowledge I gained from that job gave me confidence to continue working in the same field. Had I not worked in that shop, I would possibly not be here or it could be that I would not have been working in the machinery line. Being focused helped me to venture into the same business and got me to where I am today.

Nepal Jaycees

The training Nepal Jaycees inculcated in me contributed to improving my professional life. They helped me realize my purpose and the value of hard work. Jaycees is an organisation that grooms young people to become leaders. Jaycees taught me the ingredients required to be a leader - how to speak, how to conduct meetings, and even how to expand my business.

Bank

If it was not for the financial help from my bank, my business would not have moved forward. I feel I must give credit to the bank for helping me financially to expand my business. I have learnt that if you have the determination, innovation and integrity, it is not difficult to get investors. The support from my bank has helped me to have the freedom to work without any worry.
