Labour Ministry to hold Nepal-Malaysia Joint Working Committee meet

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has said Nepal will host Nepal-Malaysia Joint Working Committee meeting within June this year. A Nepali delegation's five-day visit to Malaysia was fruitful, according to the Ministry. The delegation was led by Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha. During the visit at the invitation of Malaysia's Minister for Human Resources Datuk Seri M Saravanan, Nepali delegation held bilateral meetings with Malaysian Minister for Home Affairs Hamzah Zainudin and Minister Saravanan, and proposed to increase the minimum remuneration, service and facilities of Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia. The meeting also agreed to hold Nepal-Malaysia Joint Working Committee meeting within June this year. During the meetings, discussions were held on a wide range of issues relating to labour pact between Nepal and Malaysia inked in 2018 such as providing more employment opportunities, making Nepali youths more skill-oriented to cater to the need of Malaysian labour market, making arrangements for security guard related training in Nepal, making zero-cost principle effective for selection and induction of youths for foreign employment among others. Furthermore, arrangement of health, social security and social welfare, 24-hour insurance facility for Nepali migrant workers among others were also figured out during the meetings, the Ministry added. The Nepali delegation had urged the Malaysian side to consider raising the monthly salary of the Nepali security guards in Malaysia to 3,000 Malaysian ringgit. By RSS READ ALSO:
