Lumbini Province govt allocates Rs 1.5m for former bonded labourers’ education

TULASIPUR: The Lumbini Province government has allocated Rs 1.5 million for the scholarship of the freed Kamlari in Lamahi, Dang.

The provincial government allocated the budget to address the problems in the education of the former bonded labourers, Lumbini Province Minister for Health, Population and Family Welfare Indrajit Chaudhary said. Earlier, the former Kamlari students had to drop out of school due to lack of scholarship. Tharu leader Madhav Raj Chaudhary said that the problem arose due to lack of coordination among the three levels of government. It will be easier now that the provincial government has allocated the budget, he added.
