MCC delegation meets Finance Minister Mahat, inquires about project preparation

KATHMANDU: A delegation led by Jonathan Brooks, Millennium Challenge Corporation's Deputy Vice President for Europe, Asia, Pacific and Latin America (EAPLA) programmes, met with Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat on Monday. The meeting held at the Ministry of Finance in the presence of Dean R Thompson, the US Ambassador to Nepal, discussed the implementation of the MCC Compact. The MCC officials visited the ministry to inquire about the preparation as the date for implementing the MCC agreement has been set for August 9, 2023. The MCC project should be completed within 5 years from the date of implementation. Similarly, there was a detailed discussion between the two parties about the remaining tasks that should be completed before the implementation of the agreement. On the occasion, Finance Minister Mahat said this project can be completed within the predetermined time period and become an example in the project management of Nepal. Minister Mahat opined that the success of MCC compact can be emulated for other projects as well and expressed gratitude to the MCC officials for visiting Nepal to learn about the project. READ ALSO:
