Minister Jhakri urges ADB to intensify project works

A A- A+
KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri has said the government needs to work a lot in a short time. Although a huge financial resource is needed for infrastructure building, works are going on with a limited budget. Minister Jhakri said it during a meeting with the representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday. She urged the ADB representatives to intensify the ADB-funded projects. "As we have limited time for many works, the projects should be expedited," Minister Jhankri underscored. According to Jhakri, revision of the National Urban Policy and the draft of the Urban Development Bill are in the final stage. This will pave the way for the cooperation of urbanisation projects. There are several areas for investment in Nepal, she reminded. Director General at ADB South Asia Department, Kenichi Yokoyama, viewed that ADB is always ready to cooperate with the ministry. He suggested Nepal forward the urbanisation project following the Gujrat model. Ministry Spokesperson Rabindra Bohara said the discussion reviewed the ADB-funded projects and potential areas of future cooperation. Present in the meeting were Secretary Maniram Gelal, Director General at Urban Development Building Construction Department, Padma Mainali among others. READ ALSO:
