KATHMANDU: Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Gopal Prasad Sigdel, has asked new startups to come up with transport management ideas.
MoPIT Secretary Sigdel presented new ideas in the 'Infrastructure Marketplace' session on the second day of the Nepal Infrastructure Summit and asked new startups to come up with ideas for transportation management.
On the second day of the summit, organised by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) and Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI), Secretary Sigdel said the ministry was willing to invest in the new startups' good ideas with complete solutions," he said.
He said it will be discussed how the government can benefit from the ideas of startups. He opined that the programme of awarding youths who put forward ideas is good and added that such programmes will help to create new ideas in the market.
In the session, out of 10 selected from 50 applications, five people who were selected in the best five categories presented their ideas.
Of the five ideas shared, one was on house building, two on traffic management and two on harvest.
Suman Raj Bharti shared the idea of gharbanau.com. Building a house is no longer a hassle. There is no fear of being cheated while buying goods. Everything from the process required to build a house is available in the online market, said Bharati.
Bharati claimed that his products are good as there have been no complaints from customers.
Josep Shrestha shared the idea of Highway and Adaptive Traffic Management Control System. According to his idea, the vehicle could be monitored through the device. The judges inquired about its use and after the service.
Another idea master Saurabh Singh Chaudhary shared rice transpattern idea. Similarly, Kapil Adhikari shared the idea of traffic tracking and said that by collecting the data, the traffic can be managed by knowing which vehicles are going from where.
Padam Thapa also came up with an idea related to traffic management. His idea was to automatically change traffic lights in areas with heavy traffic.
Likewise, Kiran Gurung presented the idea of a machine for planting rice, and grinding millet.
A panel for the evaluation of idea masters included Secretary Sigdel, Nepal Engineers' Association President Er Hari Bahadur Darlami, Infrastructure expert Er Kamal Raj Pandey, Architect Rajesh Thapa, Architect Tuk Lal Adhikari, Confederation of Nepalese Industries Youth Entrepreneurs Forum (CNIYEF) President Prachi Agarwal, former President of Nepal Engineers Association Hareram Shrestha and Idea Studio Nepal Executive Chairperson Tshering Lama.
