MoHP reports 2,448 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday; total rises to 838,375

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday reported 2,448 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 838,375. Additionally, 627 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded two deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,609. Presently, there are 11,690 active cases in Nepal. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 1,538 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,168 new cases, Lalitpur logged 236 cases and Bhaktapur logged 134 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 278 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, a total of 815,076 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.2 per cent while the case fatality rate is at 1.4 per cent. Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 1,981 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 835,927. As of Wednesday, a total of 4,957,288 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 11,690 persons staying in isolation while 218 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 311.69 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.84 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
