On the occasion of the 7th National Tax Day, Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) jointly organised an interaction program on “Tax Reform: Essential Imperatives”.
Speaking on the current tax system, Hari Bhakta Sharma, President, CNI said, “Government should play a vital role towards e-governance and make the citizens aware of every transaction made from taxpayers’ money. Also, the tax system should be made hassle-free.” He further pinpointed the loopholes in the tax system through his presentation.
Addressing the programme, Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Finance Minister informed, “The National Tax Day is a day to appreciate taxpayers and encourage non-tax payers to contribute their share for the welfare of the country. The government is working towards e-governance but our country is a developing country and hence it takes time to implement policies. We are also working on ways to control revenue leakages and for effective enforcement of tax laws to raise tax compliance among taxpayers.”
