Navodaya +2 & UN College provides financial assistance to National Innovation Centre

A A- A+
KATHMANDU: Navodaya +2 & UN College has provided financial support to the National Innovation Centre. The college has been in operation in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-16 of Sunsari district for 10 years. A group of 50 students of class XI and XII of the college's science faculty led by Ram Bahadur Limbu, the college principal and coordinator of the UN Navodaya Helping Hand, visited the National Innovation Centre and provided the financial support to the centre's chairperson, Dr Mahabir Pun. Prabin Bohara and Saurabh Singh Chaudhary of National Innovation Centre briefed the visiting principal and students about the work carried out by the centre and organised a tour of the centre. The centre's Chairperson Pun said the National Innovation Centre was established to conduct scientific research and prevent Nepali manpower from migrating abroad. In an interaction with students, Dr Pun emphasized that production should be increased by inventing various items through which economic prosperity can be achieved. He said the invention is an important basis for the prosperity of any country as it leads to economic development and creates employment. "We help to make a prototype of anything and if that works well, the centre also helps to make a commercial product so that it can be launched to the market," Pun told students. Answering the questions raised by the students, Pun said that innovators are valuable capital for the country and should be encouraged, and added all the work done by the centre has been completed with the voluntary financial support of people. The office of the National Innovation Centre is located on the campus of Tribhuvan University. The Centre has been in operation for the past two years and is carrying out its regular innovation activities. Dr Pun opined, "Educational institutions are places for teaching and learning. Such places are all over the world. Everyone's way of teaching is the same. However, after students complete their studies, they should be given a practical kind of education, not being able to give that kind of knowledge is a weakness." Dr Pun expressed his view that those who want to get a job should study and get a certificate, but a certificate does not work to become an entrepreneur. It needs an environment for research and invention to become entrepreneurs. The centre has been opened to mould the product of people's minds into a practical form, Dr Pun said and added, "Many ideas come to people's minds and vanish. That's why if you have good ideas, share them with your brothers and sisters." READ ALSO:
