A A- A+
KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for manufacturing chemical fertiliser in the country. The NEA and GGGI, intergovernmental organisation headquartered in Korea signed an MoU to that effect. NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising and GGI's Director-General Frank Rijsberman signed the MoU amid a programme in the presence of Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal. With this, NEA and the intergovernmental organisation would carry out a feasibility study on the production of hydrogen and ammonia through green energy and the establishment of factory for the production of urea fertilisers. On the occasion, Minister Bhusal said manufacturing of hydrogen will be a new area and technology to consume the energy produced from the country's hydropower projects for domestic purposes. She also urged both the organisations to honestly implement the provisions in the MoU. Based in Seoul, Republic of Korea, GGGI is a treaty-based international, intergovernmental organisation that supports developing country governments' transition to a model of economic growth that is environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive.
