NEA told to cut off power to ‘big‘ customers who fail to pay dues

Newly appointed Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma has directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to cut off power supply to ‘big‘ consumers who fail to pay electricity tariff on time. Sharma directed NEA Executive Director Mukesh Raj Kafle to stop supplying power to 10 such consumers within three days, RSS  reported. Earlier, the government had received complaints that the government had a soft corner for big consumers, while it takes action against small and middle-scale customers. Some big conglomerates, government agencies, individuals close to power centres and industries have failed to pay their dues, according to the government owned power monopoly.
