KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started the groundwork to operate international flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.
NAC has started its preparation for international flights to Malaysia and Qatar and overflying through other countries from the airport.
NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka shared that the corporation has put forth its process to get permission for flights to Malaysia and Qatar and for overflying through other countries including India, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Thailand.
According to Khadka, NAC will fly to Malaysia and Qatar from Kathmandu first and land in Kathmandu via Bhairahawa while returning.
NAC Chair Yubaraj Adhikari shared NAC has placed a plan to make a flight to Malaysia and two flights to Qatar in a week. He further shared that the number of flights can be increased on demand in the coming days.
NAC will make a touch flight at GBIA on December 19 and begin commercial flights to the two destinations.
Currently, Kuwait's Jazeera Airways and Nepal's Himalaya Airlines operate commercial flights from GBIA.
