Nepal logs 9,432 new Covid 19 cases on Tuesday; active cases surpass 88,000

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 9,432 new cases of coronavirus infection on Tuesday. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 927,880. Additionally, 2,576 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. The number of active cases has reached 88,934. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded eight deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,667. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 6,172 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 4,875 new cases, Lalitpur logged 782 cases and Bhaktapur logged 515 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 3,040 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 827,279 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 89.2% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%. Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 8,054 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 918,448. RT-PCR and antigen tests have been conducted on 18,103 and 7,806 samples respectively in 24 hours. Presently, there are 88,934 persons staying in isolation while 165 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 351.63 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.94 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
