Nepal removed from the UK’s COVID-19 red list

A A- A+
Kathmandu: The Government of the United Kingdom (UK) has removed 47 countries and territories including Nepal from its red list, which was in place earlier due to the high number of COVID-19 cases and death rate along with new variants. Issuing a notice on Thursday, the British government stated that the provision will come into effect from October 11. With the new provision, passengers returning to England from Nepal will no longer be required to stay in hotel quarantine. Of the total 54 countries placed on the red list, the eligible travellers vaccinated in 47 countries and territories including Nepal will be treated the same as returning fully vaccinated UK residents, so long as they have not visited a country or territory placed on the red list in the past 10 days before arriving in the UK. The British government has also stated that evidence of vaccination of four vaccines — Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen and Janssen — will be recognised from those 37 countries and territories. Passengers travelling to the UK from Nepal should submit evidence that shows them fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal has reported a total of 800,282 cases, as of October 7, 2021. COVID-19 infections are still rising in 38 countries. At least 236,571,000 people have been reported to be infected by COVID-19 globally while 5,034,000 have died. READ ALSO:
