Nepal Tea Collective launches first outlet 'Tea Bar' in Kathmandu

A A- A+

KATHMANDU: Nepal Tea Collective officially launched its first outlet 'Tea Bar' in Thamel, Kathmandu, on September 16 and 17.

Tea Bar is located in Kathmandu Guest House next to the Museum of Modern Nepali Art.

The newly opened outlet offers loose-leaf orthodox tea varieties such as Classic (black tea), Kumari Gold (gold tips tea), White Prakash (white tea), Ganesha Green (green tea), tea blends like Kathmandu Cosmos, and popular cold brew teas like ‘White Champagne’ and ‘Sunset in Shangri-La’. Additionally, their Tea Flight gives customers a taste of the entire range of orthodox Nepal tea.

These orthodox tea varieties are sourced directly from family-owned, smallholder farmers in Phidim, Ilam. The tea varieties are certified organic, packed at origin, hand plucked and processed by skilled tea producers. While most of these tea varieties have historically been sold to tea lovers around the world, creating market opportunities for Nepali farmers, with the opening of their tea outlet, Nepal Tea Collective is now bringing the best of Nepali orthodox teas to Nepali tea lovers.

Nepal Tea is different from loose-leaf teas grown in the region. Nepal’s unique microclimate, mineral-rich soil suitable for high-altitude tea farming, and the very young age of the bushes give Nepal Tea a flavour that is rare, bright and floral. Nepal Tea’s talented tea producers are independent and able to exercise their skills and creative freedom to create teas that are rare, fresh and unique.

While tea lovers from all over the world are beginning to recognise and appreciate Nepal Tea, the same loose leaf tea drinking culture is just beginning in Nepal. With the opening of the Tea Bar, Nepal Tea Collective hopes to bring orthodox Nepal Teas to tea drinkers and give them the full Nepal tea experience.
