KATHMANDU: All three international airports in Nepal will be brought into operation round-the-clock to manage the increasing flow of passengers. The flow of domestic and foreign tourists has gone up at airports, with the fear of coronavirus infection receding of late. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has prepared to bring the international airports into operation 24 hours. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will be brought into operation round-the-clock from May 29. Likewise, Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) based in Siddharthanagar, Bhairahawa, and under-construction Pokhara Regional International Airport will also be brought into operation round-the-clock. CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari said that the TIA would provide round-the-clock service from May 29, Republic Day. Adhikari shared, "The CAAN released a plan after the frequent directions of Tourism Minister Prem Bahadur Ale.” The flow of passengers at the international airport and domestic airports has increased after Covid 19 infections have subsided. He said, "There is a need for improvement of infrastructures in all international and domestic airports as well as standardisation of service. It is also necessary to give a message that the Nepali sky is safe. So we are involved in effective management of airports." Adhikari mentioned that though the runway of Gautam Buddha International Airport will come into operation from April 21, the airport would host international flights from May 16, the Day of Buddha Purnima. GBIA has been taken as an alternative to TIA. Likewise, the domestic airports will operate till midnight. The CAAN has decided to bring Bhadrapur, Janakpur, Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi airports into operation till midnight. Earlier in 2075 BS, the then Tourism Minister late Rabindra Adhikari had brought the TIA into operation for 21 hours from 18 hours. (with inputs from RSS) READ ALSO:
