NRB data shows significant increase in electronic payment transaction

KATHMANDU: With growing access to technology, the digital transaction has increased significantly in the country. Electronic payment transaction has increased due to the development of payment infrastructure, policy of encouraging electronic payments and gradual adoption of electronic payment instruments, according to Nepal Rastra Bank. The transactions of more than Rs 561.68 billion were made via ConnectIPS in the first two months of the current fiscal year 22022/23. In the same period last year, transactions of more than Rs 445.91 billion were made. Similarly, transactions through mobile banking in the first two months of the current fiscal year stand at Rs 298.70 billion. In the same period last year, it was more than Rs 28.67 billion. Digital wallet transactions in the first two months of the current FY amount to Rs 35.09 billion, while it was Rs 28.47 billion in the same period in the previous FY.
