Offering Happiness

Entrepreneurship is a growing trend. The bandwagon effect has consumed the youths who want to put their ideas to test. In fact, it takes colossal audacity to materialise these ideas into startups. Four people, who had the courage to do so are Abinash Chaudhary, Niraj Kafle, Darshan Parajuli and Santosh Pandey. Later Manish Khatiwada joined the team as a partner. These five are the minds behind the venture, Offering Happiness.

They started off on Valentine’s Day in 2017 and have since been doing up to 4 or 5 events per day. From surprising guests with personalised gifts to creating little moments of sheer celebration, their USP is possibly the meticulous planning and attention to detail.  The founders, who attended the same college in Kathmandu, had initially worked together on events in and outside of their college before deciding on an independent business idea that is not only socially impactful but also endorses economic sustainability. Kafle, Co-founder, shares, “This is a business of nostalgia, of giving momentary happiness all the while creating life long memories.”

Even though birthdays and anniversaries are obvious occasions where the team is sought, they also help create special tailored moments such as at-your-door musical performance, big screen surprises with personalised videos on a movie screen, etc.   

While the founders were satisfied with their business idea and client outcomes, they were initialy apprehensive about finances and sustainability. Now, even when the business has picked up, they face obvious constraints of not repeating an idea so customisation becomes key, and lack of proper human resource which can impact the cost of a project tremendously when imported.

The team now has its eyes set on the tourism sector. They share, “As a visit to Nepal is considered incomplete without visiting Pokhara; we aim to ensure that a tour to Nepal is incomplete without getting a surprise from Offering Happiness”.

Offering Happiness was able to identify a lifestyle problem of the urban Nepali – monotony, lack of time, lack of intimacy and people too busy to create special moments; that’s where they stepped in and that’s where they want to make a difference!

Here’s one business model that celebrates life and goes the profit route!
