KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 69.38 billion budget for the health sector in the upcoming fiscal year 2022/23, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma shared.
The current allocation is Rs 52 billion lesser than the previous fiscal year's. Earlier, Rs 122 billion was allocated, majority of the allocation was for Covid 19 prevention, control and treatment.
Minister Sharma presented the budget for the upcoming fiscal year before a joint session of the Federal Parliament.
Earlier on May 24, President Bidya Devi Bhandari presented policies and programmes of the incumbent government for the upcoming fiscal year.
The government generally announces the budget being based on its policies and programmes for the given time.
