Parliament begins deliberations on MCC compact

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has commenced. The meeting scheduled to take place at 1:00 pm today was postponed for an hour. With the commencement of the session, main opposition CPN (UML) lawmakers headed towards the ‘well’ by chanting slogans to picket it. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota announced the beginning of the meeting business amid the opposition’s protests. In the meeting, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu presented the annual report of the Office of Auditor General for the fiscal year 2021/22, on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. Similarly, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma tabled a proposal seeking the general deliberations on the proposal to endorse the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact with the US Government.
