KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is embarking on his four-day official visit to India today.
The prime minister's visit to India is considered to be important. This is his first official visit to the southern neighbour following the formation of the coalition government.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Dahal is visiting India at the cordial invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi from May 31 to June 3.
PM Dahal is leading a delegation including Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala.
PM Dahal will hold a discussion with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on bilateral interests, according to Foreign Minister Saud.
Other issues on the table are power trade, construction of transmission lines, and the inauguration of an integrated security checkpoint. The issues of promoting Indian investment in energy and hydropower sector of Nepal, trade and transit and air entry routes will also be put up, Minister Saud informed.
The Premiers of both countries are scheduled to sit down and conclude the issue of air entry routes for Nepal.
Prime Minister Dahal was scheduled to fly at 1:25 pm today.
Upon landing in India, the PM is scheduled to attend meetings this evening.
