PM Deuba inaugurates new Khimti substation in Ramechhap

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today inaugurated new Khimti 220-132kV substation at Sankhe in Manthali Municipality-13 of Ramechhap district. The Prime Minister inaugurated the substation amid a ceremony. New Khimti substation constructed by the 456MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project is the second-largest substation in Nepal after Dhalkebar substation. [gallery columns="1" size="full" ids="20982"] New Khimti substation is a major part of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, built with local capital.  The substation connecting Tamakoshi and its tributaries will generate up to 1,200MW of electricity. The electricity generated from the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project is connected to the new Khimti substation from a 47km long 220KV double circuit transmission line. In addition to Upper Tamakoshi, 60MW Khimti I, 52.4MW Likhu IV and 24.2MW Likhu Khola A are connected to this substation. [gallery columns="1" link="file" size="full" ids="20983"] Similarly, the electricity connected to the new Khimti substation has been taken from the 76km 220 kV transmission line to the 400/ 220/ 132 kV substation at Dhalkebar in Dhanusha. The surplus electricity has been exported to India through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transborder transmission line.
