Power outage in Morang draws attention of Industry, business associations

A A- A+
KATHMANDU: The power outage for more than 12 hours without prior notice and 24-hour power outage for the last two days in the industrial area has drawn the serious attention of Morang Merchant's Association, Chamber of Industries, Morang (CIM) and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Province 1. The repeated power outage without making public any schedule has raised questions about the reputation of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), a joint press statement issued by the associations said.  If such a situation persists, the entire production process, including essential commodities, will be halted and the supply chain will be disrupted, the statement read. The associations have urged the authorities to facilitate the operation of the industry by immediately making public load shedding schedule. As the run-of-river-based power plants generate less power than the connected capacity during the current dry season, and the unavailability of power from India as expected, the authorities should make the power distribution proportional and equitable in industries as well as household areas, suggested the statement. The associations have also urged to scrap the electricity demand fee at the time when the factories are shut down due to power outages. Further, the associations have warned to stage agitation if the concerned bodies do not properly address their demand by next Tuesday. READ ALSO:
