KATHMANDU: Ministers representing the CPN (UML) in the present government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have tendered their resignation today.
The Ministers including CPN (UML) Vice Chairperson and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel tendered their resignation to the Prime Minister at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar.
Ministers who joined the incumbent government from the CPN (UML) were Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Paudel, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Jwala Kumari Sah, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Rajendra Kumar Rai, Minister for Foreign Affairs Bimala Rai Paudyal, Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagawati Chaudhary and Minister for Defence Hari Prasad Uptreti.
Earlier, the party, through its secretariat meeting, today decided to quit the incumbent government.
The UML left the government 65 days after it joined it. The Secretariat meeting of the party had said on February 25 that it would remain in government. However, the Secretariat meeting today made a decision to quit the government.
A decision has been made to leave the government citing the agreement made on January 25 while forming the government was not abided by, said Party's Vice Chair Paudel, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, addressing a news conference following the Secretariat meeting.
