Omega Championship Fight Night sets new standards in Nepal’s MMA

KATHMANDU: In a historic feat, Omega Championship organised its first-ever 'Omega Championship Fight' event, marking a groundbreaking milestone in Nepal's Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) landscape. As the pioneering organisation promoting MMA in the country, Omega Championship held national and international fights, integrating various martial arts styles and disciplines. The highly anticipated event took place at Anmol Banquet in Shankhamul, Kathmandu, captivating a crowd of 600 passionate spectators. With a total of eight captivating bouts, including two enthralling Pro-fights and six thrilling amateur clashes, the evening unfolded with an electric atmosphere. Among the 20 exceptional fighters gracing the ring, 12 represented the host Nepal, while eight showcased their skills from neighbouring India, exemplifying the event's international allure. Aptly named 'Omega Fight Night', this extraordinary showcase of talent left an indelible mark on the MMA landscape. The main event, a Light Weight Championship clash, witnessed the awe-inspiring display of Nepal's own Kosish Shrestha representing Rage Fitness against India's formidable Vicky Gwade. In a stunning feat, Shrestha sealed victory in just 1 minute and 43 seconds, cementing his dominance in the octagon. The crowd erupted with awe and admiration as Shrestha's stellar performance set a high bar for future contenders. The co-main event showcased India's Hansraj Samata locking horns with Prakhar Subhasung, delivering a bout that will be remembered for its brevity and explosive finish. Samata, demonstrating unparalleled precision and power, vanquished his opponent in a jaw-dropping 6 seconds with a technical knockout, leaving spectators in sheer disbelief. The amateur fights witnessed their fair share of excitement as well. Samar Aryan triumphed over Jordan Tendha Ghale in an intense showdown, showcasing his unwavering determination. Allen Thakali, representing Muay Thai Pokhara, emerged victorious against Karn Bahadur Magarati, while Dikpal Karki of Nepal displayed his resilience by defeating India's Dhruv Shirodkar in a powerful heavyweight clash. However, Able Thapa faced a formidable opponent in Atharva Desmukh, a four-time winner, succumbing to Desmukh's submission skills. In a gripping match between Rajina Bista and Sangita Dhami, Dhami emerged triumphant, leaving an indelible mark in the annals of Omega Championship. The event proved to be an astounding success, showcasing the best of Nepal's MMA talent while fostering a spirit of friendly competition between nations. Both Pro and amateur players received well-deserved recognition and cash prizes. Each Pro competitor earned a base prize of 15,000, with the winners receiving an additional 15,000. In the amateur category, competitors enjoyed an equal prize of 7,000, with the winners taking home an extra 7,000 in recognition of their exceptional performances. Omega Championship's first-ever 'Omega Championship Fight' captivated the nation, leaving fans yearning for more thrilling encounters in the future.
