
KATHMANDU: Regular international flights resumed from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi district today.
Kuwaiti Airline Jazeera Airways had suspended flights from the second largest airport in the country since December 21, 2022, citing bad weather.
An aircraft of Jazeera Airways carrying 66 passengers from Kuwait landed at the GBIA at 7:15 am and took off at 8:15 am carrying 99 passengers on board, according to Jagannath Niroula, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)
He said the operation of flights to and from GBIA has now become easier with the weather becoming clear. Jazeera Airways will operate regular flights thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The international airport which is in operation as an alternative to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu can handle around 40 flights daily.
