Rotary Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Award goes to young entrepreneur Koirala

KATHMANDU: Young entrepreneur Sudip Koirala has received the 'Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Rotary Award for Vocational Excellence' worth Rs 1 million. Koirala, CEO/Co-founder of Didi Foundation Inc Australia and Nepal, received this award for playing an important role in social entrepreneurship and social change. Koirala (33) received the biggest award in the Rotary field at young age. This award is given to those who contribute to various fields of society. From now on, this award, which is given once every two years will be given every year. On the occasion of the 15th national convention of Rotary Club District 3292, Amod Rajbhandari, grandson of Gopal-Kamala, honoured Koirala with the award in the presence of other family members. The award has been established in memory of Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari. Gopal Rajbhandari, a social worker, is a founding member of Rotary Club in Nepal. In the past, Ram KM Shrestha, Executive Director of Dhulikhel Hospital; Suresh Raj Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University; Culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi; Indira Rana Magar, Founder of Prisoners Assistance (PA) Nepal; Biswas Dhakal, President and Chairperson of F1Soft  FAWan Soft International have received Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Rotary Award. The award was given to young entrepreneur Koirala to encourage those who play an important role in social change, according to Amod Rajbhandari. A six-member award selection committee was formed under the chairmanship of Basudev Golyan. Koirala, who received the award, said, "There should be economic upliftment of backward community in society,"and added that the amount of the award will be invested for the betterment of the society.
