Sahityakala Mandir celebrates 28th anniversary; littérateurs felicitated

KATHMANDU: Lunkarandas-Gangadevi Chaudhary Sahityakala Mandir honoured Prof Dr Triratna Manandhar, Tejeshwar Babu Gwanga and Nhuchhe Bahadur Dangol amid a ceremony organised in Kathmandu. The ceremony was organised to mark Sahityakala Mandir's 28th anniversary at Agarwal Sewa Kendra, on Tuesday. At the ceremony, Prof Dr Usha Thakur and Basant Chaudhary, President of Sahityakala Mandir, jointly felicitated them with a cash prize of Rs 151,000 each, letter of appreciation and offered shawls in honour. Sahityakala Mandir has been honouring littérateurs and authors working in various genres since its inception. Around 120 authors have been honoured by Sahityakala Mandir so far. He expressed pleasure over the fact that Chaudhary, president of Sahityakala Mandir, started the work of honouring littérateurs and authors 28 years ago and now it has continued as a tradition. Chaudhary, also a famous poet and lyricist, said it was his pleasure to celebrate the 28th anniversary by honouring the littérateurs. He was of the view that every sector of the society was reflected through creation, and that the creation was a mirror to look at the society closely. "Whether it's literature or music, art or theatre, these creative genres always take us on a journey from darkness to light," he said. On the occasion, Prof Dr Thakur praised Chaudhary for his continuous contribution to the field of literature and art. She said Chaudhary's efforts have encouraged those who have dedicated their lives to the country's literature and art. Chaudhary is not only a successful industrialist but also a senior poet, patriotic creator and hardworking personality, she said. Speaking on the occasion, Megha Chaudhary, Chairperson of Basant Chaudhary Foundation (BCF), said it was tradition of her family to respect seniors and encourage new ones. She also made a commitment to continue uplifting the field of literature and art. Senior artist Harihar Sharma, vice-president of Sahityakala Mandir, said they have been choosing venerable persons for the honour. At the ceremony, author Asmita Aryal's book 'Maile Bujheko Duniyan' (The World that I have understood) was also launched. READ ALSO:
