Sixth Day of Badadashain: Katyayani Devi being worshipped today

KATHMANDU: The sixth day of Badadashain is being celebrated by Hindus across the country today by worshipping Goddess Katyayani Devi.

Goddess Katyayani is described in Hindu scriptures as a symbol of beauty. It is mentioned in the scriptures that Goddess Katyayani came to this world to prevent and remove obstacles constituted by demons and do good deeds including charity.

There is a religious belief that worshipping the Goddess on the occasion of Navratri brings strength, prosperity and knowledge.

Hindu devotees have thronged the temples and shrines of the Goddess across the country. In Kathmandu Valley, the devotees have paid homage at temples including Guhyeshwori, Jaya Bageshwori, Maitidevi, Kalikasthan, Naxal Bhagawati, Bhadrakali, Kalankimai and others since early morning today.

Likewise, Palanchowk Bhagawati, Nala Bhagawati, Kamalamai, Ichchhakamana, Manakamana, Gadhimai, Pathibhara, Dantakali, Baglung Kalika, Bindhyabasini, Tal Barahi and other shrines have also received a large number of devotees on the sixth day of the Badadashain today.
