Special programme to be held at Boudhanath Stupa on Buddha Jayanti

KATHMANDU: Boudha and Melamchi Ghyang Guthi are set to jointly organise a programme to celebrate 2566th Buddha Jayanti at Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu on Monday.

On the occasion, Dharma Guru Rinpoche Chiniya Lama Bhhupati Bazra Lama, Supreme Head of Boudha and Melamchi Ghyang Guthi, will light the eternal flame of peace in the presence of Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun.

Boudhanath Stupa built in the 5th century is a globally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a sacred Buddhist universal pilgrim centre.

The stupa symbolises endless compassion and wisdom, the root of Vajrayana, and a symbol of world peace.

It has been reported that there will be a display of the precious relics of Lord Buddha, Kashyapa Buddha and Swayambhu at the programme.
