KATHMANDU: A taskforce has been formed to enquire about the condition of Nepalis undergoing treatment at hospitals on being seriously injured or taken ill in course of overseas employment.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS), the three-member taskforce has been formed with the minister-level decision with an objective of learning about the condition of Nepali migrant workers whether they are in serious condition at hospitals in foreign countries and facilitating in their rescue.
Chief of the Employment Management Division of the MoLESS has been designated as the coordinator of the taskforce while joint secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Executive Director of the Foreign Employment Board are its members.
The taskforce will prepare integrated data of the Nepali migrant workers who are being treated in critical conditions at hospitals in different countries. It will identify the ways to bring them home and make arrangements for their effective treatment by bringing them home, according to the Ministry.
Hundreds of Nepali migrant workers are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals in different countries. At least 25 Nepalis are in coma in Saudi Arabia, it is said.
