KATHMANDU: The Startup Network and Nepal Clearing House Ltd recently organised an informal interaction programme aimed at discussing seamless financial transactions between Nepal and India through QR codes. Additionally, the event aimed to promote The Startup Network Nepal as an Indo-Nepal Startup Think Tank.

The panellists for the programme were Anukool Bhatnagar, an expert in the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector and former Chief General Manager (CGM) of the State Bank of India (SBI); Neelesh Mansingh Pradhan, CEO of Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL); Pralhad Giri, Deputy Director of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB); Rajesh Upadhyay, Chairman of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited (MLBL); and Upaul Majumdar, Senior Advisor to The Startup Network Nepal.

During the interaction, the panellists primarily focused on the recent cross-border agreement and the potential of QR payments to facilitate seamless transactions between Nepal and India. QR codes have emerged as a convenient and secure payment method, allowing users to make transactions by simply scanning the code using a smartphone. The discussion likely revolved around the scope and benefits of implementing QR payments for cross-border transactions, which can enhance financial inclusion and foster economic cooperation between Nepal and India.
The event aimed to bring together experts, stakeholders, and key decision-makers to exchange ideas and insights on leveraging technology and innovation in the financial sector. By promoting The Startup Network Nepal as an Indo-Nepal Startup Think Tank, the programme aimed to encourage collaboration and support the growth of startups in both countries, ultimately contributing to the development of the startup ecosystem in Nepal.
