CAAN expands domestic flight operation time to 18 hours

KATHMANDU: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has increased domestic flight operation time to 18 hours a day to manage growing air traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). In keeping with the rise in air traffic, the TIA has made necessary preparation to operate domestic flights up to the increased time at six airports in Tarai from Thursday, according to Director-General, Engineer Pradeep Adhikari The CAAN has decided to run the airport from 6:00 am through midnight in Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi. The expansion of flight operation time is expected to help reduce existing air service pressure at the airport in Kathmandu and also provide relief to the pandemic-battered tourism sector, Adhikari shared.
