In his address to a programme organised to launch a project for upgrading the airport based in Mahendranagar today, Minister Ale said the operation of the airport was essential from the tourist point of view. The airport is the main tourist gateway to the Shuklaphanta National Park.

The airport that has remained closed for over the past two decades will have a four-lane access road, he shared. “The airport area will be expanded,” he added.

He took time to highlight the support from the local and provincial governments to complete the Rs 456 million project on time.

The airport was in operation for 26 years from 1973 to 1999.  The deadline for completing the project is three years.
