KATHMANDU: Non-resident trade representative of Russia, Alexander Rybas, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale. During the meeting held at the Ministry on Tuesday, Rybas urged Minister Ale to take initiative in resuming direct flights between Kathmandu and Moscow.
On the occasion, he requested the Minister to forward the activities collaborating between the two countries in the sector of Nepal-Russia business, trade and tourism promotion. The Russian representative also inquired about the number of Russian aircraft and helicopters that Nepal needed.

There had been direct flights between Kathmandu and Moscow in the past but they became inoperative due to various reasons.
On the occasion, Minister Ale shared that Nepal Airlines was ready to collaborate if Russia provided helicopters at concessional rate. He expressed the commitment that he would take necessary steps to operate direct flights between Kathmandu and Moscow.
