Volkswagen Unveils New Tiguan

Pooja International Nepal, the authorised importer of Volkswagen for Nepal, has introduced the new version of its acclaimed SUV, the new Tiguan. According to the company, the new Tiguan is packed with distinctive characteristics that are unmatched in the South Asian market. First introduced in the year 2007 in Europe, the Volkswagen Tiguan quickly established itself as a bestseller and also claimed the position of being Europe’s safest car. Available in 150 markets with more than 3.5 million owners around the world, the Volkswagen Tiguan has acquired a leading position ever since its introduction globally and now Volkswagen brings the best of its product portfolio to Nepal. The new Tiguan is the winner of the ‘German Design Award 2017’, and according to the company, its design emphasises independence and dynamism. The new design characteristics in the premium lifestyle segment combines sophistication and on-road presence. The radiator grille, the headlights and the higher waist line of Tiguan exhibit a confident and masculine on-road stance. VW-business-360-inner The new Tiguan is available in four variants, powered by 1.4L TSI petrol engine (Trendline), 2.0L TSI petrol engine (Comfortline and Highline), and 2.0L TDI diesel engine (Comfortline), so there are choices to suit requirements of all. The 1.4 litre petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 110 KW at 5000-6000 rpm and maximum torque of 250 Nm at 1500-3500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission that can take the SUV to a top speed of 190 km/hr. The 2.0L petrol engine is even more powerful, and gives a maximum output of 132 KW at 3940-6000 rpm, and a peak torque of 320 Nm at 1500-3940 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0L TSI is the fastest engine among the three, and can accelerate from of 0-100 km/hr in just 7.7 seconds and can go to a top speed of 208 km/hr. Likewise, the 2.0 litre diesel engine gives a maximum power of 105 KW at 3250-4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 340 Nm at 1750-2750 rpm. This engine also comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0L TSI and TDI engines come equipped with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION intelligent AWD system. With variable torque transfer to the rear wheels, the new Tiguan guarantees superior acceleration capability and tremendous driving fun in every situation and on every type of driving surface. Along with sheer power, the new Tiguan also packs in innovative safety technologies and assistance systems as a standard. The SUV is equipped with six airbags for occupant’s protection and an active hood for pedestrian safety. For added pedestrian protection, the Tiguan is built with special deformation elements in the front bumper, a maximum possible distance between bonnet and engine, and deformable wings, ensuring other road users and pedestrians are exposed to as little danger as possible. Other premium features of the new Tiguan include hill start assist, auto hold, self-sealing tyres, auto park assist, cruise control, automatic headlamps, app connect, rain and light sensor, LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail-lamps, one touch boot function, electrically foldable ORVM, LED illuminated panoramic sunroof and keyless entry and go among others, depending upon the variant. In addition, it offers a spacious interior with a significant gain in boot space that provides 615 litres with all seats up and 1,655 litres with rear-seat folded. With its raw performance and numerous features of convenience, the Tiguan is perfect and practical in all situations across different terrains. The price of the new Tiguan starts from Rs 9,900,000 and is available for booking and test ride at all Volkswagen showrooms.
