25 projects, enterprises submit environmental self-monitoring reports

KATHMANDU: Projects and enterprises have started submitting environmental self-monitoring reports to the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Forests and Environment. This follows the notice issued on April 8 by the department asking enterprises to submit environmental self-monitoring reports in line with the Environment Protection Act and the Environment Protection Rules, said acting Director General of the Department, Tara Datta Bhatta. In nine months of the current fiscal year, 2022/23, 25 enterprises and projects have submitted the reports, he said. The department has asked them to compulsorily submit the reports as per Rule 45 of the Environment Protection Rules. It has also warned of action as per the laws in case of failure to do so, said Bhatta. The companies and projects that have submitted the reports include Dordi Hydropower Project (12 megawatts), Nupche Likhu Hydropower Project, CG Foods Nepal, Upper Mailung River Hydropower, United Cements, Soaltee Hotel, Saurav Food Production, Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital. Similarly, other enterprises submitting their environmental self-monitoring reports are the MTEK, Hulas Steel Industry, Industrial District Management, Tanahun Hydropower, SR Drug Laboratory, Live Pharmaceuticals, Magnus Pharma, Pashupati Iron and Steel, Dordikhola Hydropower Project (27MW), the Himgiri Hygiene, New Hope Agro Business Nepal, Grande International Hospital, Upper Marsyangdi 'A' Hydropower Project, and Tiger One.
