5th edition of ‘Nepal Chamber Expo 2022’ kicks off in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The fifth edition of 'Nepal Chamber Expo 2022' has begun at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu today. Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has organised the international fair in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC). Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba inaugurated the expo this morning. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Deuba said that reducing the trade deficit was the main challenge for the country. He also urged the private sector to reduce the trade deficit through the promotion of exports and by making domestic products as high quality as possible. "Both the promotion of exports and substitution of imports are not possible without the active participation and cooperation of the private sector," Deuba stressed  and added, "The government is ready to work with the private sector to keep the trade deficit within the desired limits by promoting exports." The Prime Minister said that the exhibition will help in the promotion of domestic products. He said the government will always work together with the private sector for the development of entrepreneurship and the promotion of exports in the country. He expressed his confidence that the expo will connect producers and consumers and help the entrepreneurs to expand the market for their products. [gallery columns="1" link="file" size="full" ids="25100"] Likewise, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Rajendra Malla said that the expo held in the aftermath of the uncomfortable situation created by Covid 19 will play an important role in making the economic activities of the country run smoothly. He said that the Chamber Expo which has been organised annually since 2015, had to be postponed for the past few years due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also said the expo will be continued as a regular annual event from now on. The NCC President expressed his view that the expo will be very useful for domestic entrepreneurs and general consumers as they can directly take part in the international level trade fairs and exhibitions organised in the country. The visitors can directly observe the latest technology, production, consumer desire and marketing and other economic and trade activities in the Chamber Expo, Malla said. The exhibition is expected to give priority to the use of quality goods and to increase public awareness of consumers' interests. It is believed that the fair will also help in increasing the exports. Cottage and domestic products, as well as agricultural and herbal products, electronics, garments and textiles, leather products, cosmetics, food and dairy products, have been featured at the fair. Bangladesh is a partner country for the fair where more than 150 stalls have been set up. Industrialists and entrepreneurs from Nepal, India, Pakistan and other countries have also participated in the expo. READ ALSO:
