BUTWAL: As many as 67 enterprises are in operation with foreign investment in Lumbini Province. Of them, 34 are small-sized, 16 are medium-sized and 17 are large enterprises.
At an interaction with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Butwal, Ujjwal Prasad Kasaju, member of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and President of Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BuCCI), Rupandehi, presented this data putting forth his remarks on possibility and challenges of business in Lumbini Province.
Saying Lumbini Province is also an attractive area for foreign investment, he mentioned that service-oriented and production-oriented enterprises and tourism sectors are the first choice for foreign investment.
There are 882 large enterprises, around 25,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and around 150,000 commercial firms in Lumbini Province.
Kasaju said that there was a possibility of businesses based on agriculture and forest fodders and the tourism industry in the Province. There is around 14% contribution of Lumbini Province to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country. There are two industrial areas and a special economic zone (SEZ) in Bhairahawa.
Similarly, there are also Bhairahawa-Lumbini, Butwal-Bhairahawa, Bhairahawa-Parasi and Parasi-Bhumahi main industrial corridors. Likewise, it has been proposed to establish Motipur Industrial Area in Rupandehi district and Naubasta Industrial Area in Banke district in the province.
