Adverse weather affects flights at TIA, eastern airports

KATHMANDU: Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been affected due to bad weather today. The wet weather has weakened the visibility, making it difficult for the aircraft to land on the runway at Tia and other airports in the country. Flights were hugely affected in the eastern part of the country due to heavy rainfall. According to Buddha Air's information officer Dipendra Kumar Karna, Buddha Air's flight to Tumlingtar has been cancelled while Biratnagar Airport has just resumed the operation of flights. Yeti Airlines' spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula shared flights were affected in various airports across the country including Kathmandu. "Adverse weather caused problems in flight in various airports but now it is getting better. There were only IFR flights during the rainfall," he said. According to him, none of Yeti Airlines' flights was cancelled but many flights were diverted. A total of 11 helicopter companies and 20 airlines have been operating flights from TIA. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the westerly low-pressure system in the country, low-pressure system prevailing from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal in India and influence of local air have jointly impacted the weather in Nepal resulting in light precipitation today. The MFD forecast that the weather will be cloudy and rainy for a few more days. READ ALSO:
