KATHMANDU: All the three district administration offices in Kathmandu Valley have banned the sale, distribution and consumption of liquor in view of the upcoming local level elections.
The DAOs have issued separate notices prohibiting the sale, distribution and consumption of liquor from Tuesday midnight to May 13.
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, informed that a public notice has been issued to not sell and consume alcohol openly in the district from today midnight to May 13 midnight. The security agencies have directed police offices in all the six municipalities to enforce the prohibition of sale and consumption of liquor. Likewise, Bhaktapur's CDO Rudra Devi Sharma informed that the sale and consumption of any liquor have been banned in the district. She has said action will be taken against those found selling or consuming liquor.
Similarly, the Kathmandu DAO has also informed that the sale, distribution and consumption of liquor have been banned.
The sale and consumption of alcohol have been banned to maintain peace and security during the elections.
