Women investors launch first skywalk project of Province 1 in Ilam

ITAHARI: With the inauguration of the first glass sky bridge in Suryodaya Rural Municipality-7, Ilam has become the first district to host skywalk in Province 1. The sky bridge was inaugurated in Kanyam, on Friday. Constructed by Kanyam Kloud, the 60-feet tall bridge has all-women investors. A total of 12 women from Wonders Nepal, which has been constructing various tourism products all around the country, teamed up to make this pioneering tourism project along the bank of Mechi highway. According to Rita Acharya, director of the project, who chaired the inauguration ceremony on Friday, construction of the entire infrastructure package including swing, hotels and other activities is estimated to reach Rs 50 million. The inauguration ceremony was held in presence of Mayor of Suryodaya RM, Rana Bahadur Rai, actor Barsha Raut, Singer Alina Chauhan and other tourism entrepreneurs from Province 1. Visitors walking on the glass on the topmost part of the three-section bridge get views of both Nepal and bordering Indian towns of Darjeeling as well as panorama of the Himalayas and plains. Likewise, the tea garden is another attraction for visitors. Four-metre wide and 7-metre long glass bridge on the top gives a thrilling experience, said Basudev Baral, a tourism entrepreneur from Dharan who was present at the inauguration ceremony. ''For adventure lovers visiting Ilam, this will be an instant attraction'', said Baral after making his footfall at the newly constructed bridge. He said the project is a beautiful example of women-led tourism investment. Domestic tourists have to pay Rs 500 to enjoy the facility while visitors from SAARC countries and foreigners  Rs 800 and Rs 2,000 respectively. By RSS READ ALSO:
